About
Korfball is a Dutch sport, originating at the start of the last century. It resembles netball or basketball in many ways, but with some important differences. For starters, korfball is a truly mixed sport; each team comprises 4 males and 4 females. Which, if nothing else, makes it the most sociable sport around. It is also a great way to keep fit throughout the year.
The University of Manchester Korfball Club is one of the most highly ranked University clubs in the country. We play regular tournaments throughout the year over the weekends. The first two tournaments of the year are designed for beginners so our new members will get the chance to learn the game first hand by playing against other Universities. At Easter there is also the opportunity for anyone interested to travel to Holland and play against teams from all over Europe. We are also entered in the local korfball league so everyone who wants to play will get the opportunity to play for one of our 4 teams on a weekly basis.
Training:
The first training session for all beginners is Wednesday 30th September, 6.00pm - 8.00pm at The Armitage Centre in Fallowfield (map). The first two training sessions are free for all beginners.
For all returning players from last year we are meeting on Tuesday 29th September, 7.00pm - 8.30pm.
