Health & Safety Policy for Manchester University Korfball Club
“Being totally committed to the Health & Safety of its members, the Manchester University Korfball Club considers it good practice to operate in accordance with the following guidelines; which have been produced by the Club Committee, with reference to existing NGB guidelines”.
Coaches/responsible person
- Club has a Health & Safety officer responsible for ensuring safety of members of the club.
- A qualified coach/responsible person is present at all matches, training sessions and tournaments
First Aid arrangements
- A trained first aider is always present at every match/ tournament.
- There is a fully qualified first aider present at all times in the Armitage where we train and play home matches.
- When playing away, first aid kit is located at venue before start of match.
- There must be at least one trained first aider for every 8 players.
- Any injuries/near misses must be noted in accident book at relevant establishment and an incident form must also be filled in and handed to AU Office.
Equipment/Transport
- All organised travel must take place according to SPORT travel guidelines.
- All equipment must be in good condition and safe to use.
- Care must be taken when handling heavy equipment.
Venues
- Ensure venue has first aid kit before playing a match/practice.
- Ensure playing surfaces are safe before playing a match/practice. (e.g. no water spillages, loose flooring etc.)
Safety of Individual members
- Ensure all players are wearing appropriate kit, no jewellery etc.
- Ensure club is aware of any disabilities or medical conditions that members may have.
- Ensure that no club members return to sport too early after injury.
